Our co-op would not exist without the support and dedication of our volunteers. Do your part to build your community-owned grocery store and Volunteer today!

We know everyone already has a busy schedule and no shortage of responsibilities, and that’s why we’ve structured our volunteer program so you can involve yourself at the level that works best for you. The reality is that every hour makes a huge difference. If every current member volunteered just five hours a year, that would equal almost two full time employees. Just think what we could do with the equivalent of two more staff members!

There are three volunteer levels that we are asking folks to choose from. The Supporter level is the smallest time commitment, at a minimum of five hours for the year. (Check out this list of small, quick actions you can take.) The Change Maker level is for people who want to maximize their impact with 1-2 hours per month for three months, by participating in one of our four Working Groups. The Superhero level is reserved for those folks who wish to make a larger time commitment, and desire to lead the charge to open the co-op’s doors. As a special thank-you, Superheroes will get a 10% off discount for six months once the store opens! (restrictions apply) A detailed description of each of these levels can be found here.

Available Positions

Join a co-op working group:

Outreach & Marketing Working Group: This group has been up and running since August of 2016 and we have a core group of dedicated members. Our outreach and marketing activities are essential to continue recruiting new member-owners and engaging our existing member-owners. The sky’s the limit in terms of what we can do. We still need many more people to get involved with a variety of activities, especially heading into the summer months. We are looking for folks who are passionate about the co-op and eager to spread the word. If you are interested in helping out with these efforts, please contact Anita Murano Sweetman at anitamarie (at) me.com or (303)332-3295.

— Partnerships/Site Exploration Working Group: This group will be responsible for further developing our partnerships within the community and leveraging support for our effort. This group also encompasses researching potential locations in the event that our current location does not work out. We are looking for folks with connections within the community, specifically in real estate and/or community planning and development. Also, if you have expressed an interest in a “site exploration committee”, this is the place for you. If you are interested in joining this working group, please contact Thomas Spahr at tspahr (at) gmail.com or (530)902-7164.

— Fundraising Working Group: In the short term, this committee has the important role of identifying, researching, and approaching funding sources to secure the additional capital needed by July to remain at our current location. We are looking for folks with a background in grant fundraising and/or connections to foundations, impact investors, or other potential sources of capital. This group will also assist with our capital campaign when the time comes. If you are interested in joining this working group, please contact Carolyn Pace at cmpace02 (at) gmail.com or (208)870-5505.
